Privacy policy
Last updated October 27, 2026
- Ayah Lock works without an account and without internet. Your reading is saved on your phone.
- We never know which apps you lock. Your lock settings and your location never leave your phone.
- An account is optional. It keeps your reading progress and app preferences so you can restore them on a new phone.
- We do not sell your data or show ads.
- You can delete your account, and everything we hold about you, from the app.
Who we are
Ayah Lock is made by [LEGAL NAME], [ADDRESS]. Questions about this policy: privacy@example.com.
What stays on your phone
- The apps you lock. You pick them with Apple's Screen Time picker. Apple gives us only opaque tokens that work on your phone; we cannot see the apps' names and the tokens are never sent anywhere.
- Your lock settings: reading time, strict mode, pauses, emergency unlocks and today's lock.
- Your location, if you allow it, is used on the phone to work out prayer times. It is not sent to us.
- Everything you read, until you choose to create an account.
If you create an account
You can sign in with Apple, Google or an email and password. We then keep:
- Your email address, and your name if Apple or Google shares it.
- A hash of your password (never the password itself), if you use one.
- Your signed-in devices, with a device name such as “iPhone 15”, so you can see and sign them out.
- Your reading progress: khatmas, reading position, daily wird and streaks, pages read and time spent reading or listening, the prayers you marked as prayed and the emergency unlocks you used.
- Your reading and app preferences, such as riwaya, font size, language and theme.
We use these only to sign you in and to sync your progress between your phones.
Services we use
These companies process data for us, under contract, only to provide their service:
- Apple: App Store purchases, Sign in with Apple, Screen Time.
- Google: Sign in with Google, and Google Cloud, which hosts our servers and database in [REGION].
- RevenueCat: checks your subscription. It receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase receipts.
- Sentry: crash reports (device model, iOS version, what the app was doing), without your reading content.
- PostHog: anonymous usage statistics, such as which screens are opened, to improve the app. [Confirm: can be turned off in Settings.]
- Resend: sends the sign-up and password codes to your email.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data until you delete your account. A device you do not use for 90 days is signed out. Crash reports and statistics are kept for [PERIOD].
Deleting your account
In the app, open Settings › Account › Delete account. This deletes your account and all your synced data from our servers right away. The progress saved on your phone stays until you delete the app. You can also write to us and we will do it for you.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, and object to how we use it. Write to privacy@example.com. If you are in the EU, the UK or Morocco, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Ayah Lock is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the app when the change matters.
